A great start to a great NFL DFS weekend
I know NFL DFS can be frustrating, but now we can look forward to my favorite week of the season – Thanksgiving week!
We get a nice juicy three-game slate on Turkey Day, a single-game showdown on Black Friday and a 10-game slate on Sunday.
But I personally like the Thanksgiving Day game slate the most.
We start our day with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade in our household, head to my mom’s for a noon feast and the annual game in Detroit and then head to my sis-in-law and brother-in-law’s house for another feast and two more games. Bring it on!
And the beauty of the three-game slate is you are looking for the Touchdown Turkey scorers. You may need that back-up who scores to break the slate.
Plus, you can be creative!
You can play your defense against your QB or play two RBs from the same team (Lions, I’m looking at you if you want to).
Don’t forget to check out my spreadsheet, and you can use the sheet for prop bets as well.
My spreadsheet can be found on my Patreon page: https://www.patreon.com/fantasyfbguru
This year Patreon is allowing weekly trials. For $5 ($7.50 of IoS), you can check my spreadsheet on a weekly basis. And if you like, you can get the whole month for $15.
Onto to our Turkey Day plays!
Quarterback
My conviction play at this position is Chicago’s Caleb Williams ($5,300). Williams is the only QB on the slate with any upside on the rushing end. He’s rushed for 118 yards 17 carries in his last three games. Plus, the Bears should be in a negative game script for most of the game as they are 9.5-point underdogs. The Lions are also giving up 244 passing yards at home this season.
Miami’s Tua Tagovailoa ($6,000) is my second choice for the slate. He and Williams both have sub-20 percent rostered numbers on a short slate. That is a game theory play all day. Tua has thrown 7 TDs vs. 0 interceptions in his last 2 games, averaging 302.5 passing yards. I’m not worried about the cold conditions at Lambeau Field as Tua has been getting the ball out quickly since returning from his last concussion.
Detroit’s Jared Goff ($6,500) and NY Giants’ Drew Lock ($4,500) are both good options to pivot off my top 2 QBs. Goff is leading the best offense in the league, while Lock faces a very shaky Dallas defense.
Running Back
As for my favorite RB, it really depends if Detroit’s David Montgomery ($6,500) availability. If Monty is out, Jahmyr Gibbs ($7,500) is a slam into every lineup play. Gibbs had big weeks with Montgomery out of the lineup last year and this year when Monty was dinged up (35.0 DraftKings points vs Minnesota this year).
My second favorite RB is Miami’s De’Von Achane. Achane has scored 20-plus DK points in four out of the last 5 weeks and has touched the ball 13 or more times in those five games. His biggest asset is coming out of the backfield in the passing game. Achane has 26 catches in his last five games.
Dallas’ Rico Dowdle ($5,500) and NY Giants’ Tyrone Tracy Jr. give you some nice cheap pieces to pivot off the higher priced RBs. Montgomery and Green Bay’s Josh Jacobs ($7,000) can be sprinkled into your lineups.
Wide Receiver
The Chicago WRs are my top priority. DJ Moore ($5,600) has been a pain in the Detroit secondary in his career. He’s averaged 6 catches for 106 receiving yards and 0.8 TDs a game in five games. Keenan Allen ($5,100) has been a target monster since Week 8. He has seen 46 targets and seems to be healthier than earlier in the season. Romeo Odunze ($5,000) is the big playmaker and has seen 49 targets since Week 8.
Detroit’s Amon-Ra St. Brown ($8,000) and Dallas’ CeeDee Lamb ($7,300) are big pay ups who will need to score TDs to give you value.
NY Giants’ Malik Nabers ($7,100) gets the benefit of Lock starting, while Detroit’s Jameson Williams ($6,100) gives you big play potential needed on the short slate.
The late game gives you plenty of options despite the forecasted cold weather. Miami’s Tyreek Hill ($6,900) and Jaylen Waddle ($5,400) are sneaky for big GPPs, while Jayden Reed ($5,700) will lead the Green Bay WR corps without Romeo Doubs (concussion).
Tight End
Miami’s Jonnu Smith ($4,300) is an easy plug and play options at TE. He has seen 39 targets during the last 4 weeks, while averaging just less than 18 DK points during that span.
You can sprinkle Detroit’s Sam LaPorta ($4,100), Chicago’s Cole Kmet ($3,600) and Dallas’ Luke Schoonmaker ($3,400) in your lineups in 2-TE builds.
Green Bay’s Tucker Kraft ($3,700) can be the sneaky GPP play. He had 24.8 DK points earlier in the season when Doubs missed the LA Rams game because of suspension.
