DFS Week 10

Fields' hot streak lands him in DK Cash Core at QB

The ups-and-downs in DFS can be frustrating at times, and with only one day a week to enjoy our passion, the down days are really tough.

After having my best cash line of the season in Week 9, I floundered to a miserable 120.24 points and nowhere close to the green. I had three snowflakes compared to only two fire emojis.

What makes the lineup even worse was I had Justin Fields as my QB at the start the week until pivoting to the pedestrian Aaron Rodgers. And on Sunday morning, I was going to pivot from DeAndre Hopkins to Devante Adams but changed my mind. Fields finishes with the second best points total with 45.72 points and Adams was third at 39.60. Having both in my lineup would have paid off.

You have to live and learn when you tinker with your lineup a little too much or not enough.

I will be providing my spreadsheet and main cash and GPP lineups on my Patreon page: https://www.patreon.com/fantasyfbguru

Onto this week’s top players!

Quarterback

Top play

Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City ($7,900): I have Mahomes as the highest scoring QB for the week as the Chiefs battle the Jaguars’ middle of the road pass defense. It helps that KC cannot run the ball and they have a team implied total of 30.5 points.

Other QBs

Justin Fields, Chicago ($6,500)

Tua Tagovailoa, Miami ($6,700)

My QB pool will be very tight this week. Fields has been one of the hottest QBs during the last month in the NFL and has rushed for 47 yards or more in seven straight games. Tua leads one of the league’s top passing offenses and has averaged 342 yards passing and 3 TDs a game in his past two games.

Running back

Top play

Alvin Kamara, New Orleans ($7,400): Kamara may be in line for another big receiving game as Pittsburgh’s T.J. Watt returns from injury this weekend. The Steelers pass rush should improve giving Andy Dalton less time to throw down the field, leading to dump offs to Kamara.

Value plays

Tony Pollard, Dallas ($6,500)

Dameon Pierce, Houston ($6,300)

Jamaal Williams, Detroit ($5,900)

Najee Harris, Pittsburgh ($5,500)

Pollard could have the Cowboys backfield to himself again, or at least handle the majority of the touches. His last start – 14 carries, 131 yards and three TDs and 1 catch for 16 yards. Pierce is the Houston offense and has handled 95.5 percent of the Texans’ rushes in the red zone. Williams still should be on the better side of touches in the Lions’ split backfield. Plus, Williams is the goal-line back. This may be the cheapest we see Harris this season if he breaks out in a game that Vegas thinks will be competitive.

Wide receiver

Top play

Tyreek Hill, Miami ($9,100): Hill has finally supplanted the run Cooper Kupp had as the highest salaried WR on DraftKings. And it’s well deserved as Hill is averaging 122.7 receiving yards a game this season.

Value plays

Christian Kirk, Jacksonville ($5,900)

Jerry Jeudy, Denver ($5,700)

Donovan Peoples-Jones, Cleveland ($4,300)

Kirk and the Jaguars should be in a passing game script on the road vs. Kansas City. Jeudy is quickly becoming the WR to have in Denver and should have plenty of opportunities vs. the Titans. Peoples-Jones gives you a nice option to stack some higher priced players.

Tight end

Top play

Travis Kelce, Kansas City ($7,800): You are going to have to get creative to fit Kelce into your lineups to play other high-priced standouts. He remains the top target in the KC offense.

Cheap plays

Greg Dulcich, Denver ($3,400)

Evan Engram, Jacksonville ($3,300)

Foster Moreau, Las Vegas ($3,200)

Tanner Hudson, NY Giants ($2,600)

Dulcich has scored 10-plus points in all three games he’s played in this season – it shouldn’t change vs. the Titans. Engram’s injury worries were diminished on Friday (he’s not on the injury report). With no Darren Waller (IR) and Hunter Renfrow (IR), Moreau could have a ceiling game. Hudson filled in well for the injured Daniel Bellinger last week.
