DFS Week 12

Updated: Nov 27, 2022

**UPDATED 11-27-22 (11:52)** Looking to turn it around for the New Year

Well, Thanksgiving gave me a fat old belly not a fat bankroll.

The chalk came through again on the Thanksgiving slate and my recent run has me following the bad chalk and falling short of the cash line green.

I finished with 129.14 points as the cutline hovered in the upper 140s in all my cash tournaments.

We have six more weekends to go before the playoffs and when golf gets into full swing with the January events to build a bankroll.

I will be providing my spreadsheet and main cash and GPP lineups on my Patreon page: https://www.patreon.com/fantasyfbguru

Onto this weekend’s top players!

Quarterback

Top play

Patrick Mahomes II, Kansas City ($8,200): Even with a low over/under of 41.5, the Chiefs have a team implied total of 28.8. That is four TDs and KC has only rushed for 8 TDs all season.

Other QBs

Kyler Murray, Arizona ($6,800)

Joe Burrow, Cincinnati ($6,700)

Geno Smith, Seattle ($6,000)

Derek Carr, Las Vegas ($5,700)

Murray was a full practice participant this week as it appears his hamstring injury is behind him (more running upside). Burrow faces a Titans defense that is one of the worst in the league against the pass this season (the Titans ranked 30th vs. the pass but are stout vs. the run, 2nd at 82.2 yards a game). I have no problem playing Burrow naked in cash with the uncertainty of Ja’Marr Chase’s return. Smith and Carr should be in a shootout as the weather appears to be little less harsh then originally predicted.

Running back

Top play

Christian McCaffrey, San Francisco ($8,800): CMC has had only one breakout scoring game with the 49ers, but he has performed well vs. good run defenses at home in the past (27.4 points in five games), according to Bob Lung’s Consistency Guide.

Value plays

Kenneth Walker III, Seattle ($6,900)

James Conner, Arizona ($6,600)

Jeff Wilson Jr., Miami ($5,900)

Latavius Murray, Denver ($5,000)

Walker has been special since taking over the starting role in Week 6 (he’s averaged 21.4 DK points since then). Conner has played 71 percent or more snaps since returning from injury in Week 9. Wilson Jr. gets the Dolphins backfield to himself vs. the 32nd ranked Houston run defense. Murray is the Broncos lead back after the team waived Melvin Gordon III earlier this week.

Wide receiver

Top play

DeAndre Hopkins, Arizona ($7,700): There are several good plays this week among the top WRs, but I’m going with Hopkins with Murray returning the string of injuries in the Cardinals WR corps. Hopkins should see double-digit targets this week.

Value plays

Juju Smith-Schuster, Kansas City ($5,700)

Josh Palmer, LA Chargers ($5,400)

Marquise Brown, Arizona ($5,300) (if activated from IR)

Garrett Wilson, NY Jets ($4,300)

Smith-Schuster is the Chiefs top WR when he’s been on the field, seeing 29 targets in his last four games. Palmer has excelled with the Chargers’ top targets Keenan Allen and Mike Williams have not been the lineup. Williams is out for the Week 12 game. Brown is expected to play, but he may be on snap count coming back from his foot injury. With all the injuries to the Cardinals’ WR, Brown may be more involved if he’s activated from the IR. Wilson has seen 16 targets in the Jets’ previous 2 games before last week’s debacle at New England.

Tight end

Top play

Travis Kelce, Kansas City ($7,700): With the low total in the Rams-Chiefs game, a skinny stack of Kelce or Juju with Mahomes II may be optimal.

Cheap plays

Juwan Johnson, New Orleans ($3,400)

Austin Hooper, Tennessee ($3,000)

Teagan Quitoriano, Houston ($2,500)

Johnson has seen at least 4 targets in four of the last five games and has produced (12.98 DK points during that span). Hooper has seen 14 targets in his last three games and has averaged 11.4 DK points in those three games. Quitoriano was brought to my attention by my Facebook friend and fellow DFS player Donal Chapelier and is a great salary saver. Quitoriano, who played 66 percent of the snaps last week, and new starting Houston QB Kyle Allen connected in the preseason for a TD.
