DFS Week 14

Updated: Dec 11, 2021

Can the upswing continue?

The ups and downs continue in DFS for me.

After finishing with my worst cash line (scoring wise) of the year in the Week 12 main slate, I turned around and had my second-highest cash point total of the season in Week 13.

I finished with 174.12 points and every single one of those points were needed as the cutline in cash hovered in the 160-170 range. Tom Brady, Jonathan Taylor and Chris Godwin each scored in the top 3 at their positions last week on DK.

My GPP stack of Kirk Cousins, Justin Jefferson and Josh Reynolds was also successful, finishing with 175.9 points for the slate.

I will be providing my main cash and GPP lineups (after early game inactives are announced) on my Patreon page: https://www.patreon.com/fantasyfbguru

Onto this week’s top players!

Quarterback

Top Play

Tom Brady, Tampa Bay ($7,600): I expect the offensive fireworks to continue for the Tampa Bay offense. Plus, Brady is 32-3 all-time vs. the Bills.

Sneaky QBs

Dak Prescott, Dallas ($6,700)

Taysom Hill, New Orleans ($5,600)

Even though Washington slowed down David Carr last week, its defense is the worst giving up fantasy points to QBs, giving Dak a high floor. Hill has a solid floor with his rushing upside, even with the return of Alvin Kamara.

Running Back

Top Play

Alvin Kamara, New Orleans ($7,900): Even with Hill at QB, I will feel comfortable stacking Kamara with Hill in my GPPs.

Value Plays

Javonte Williams, Denver ($5,900)

Devonta Freeman, Baltimore ($5,700)

Williams upside could be limited by the return of Melvin Gordon III, but we were able to see just a glimpse what the rookie could do last week. Freeman will probably be very low owned but with iffy weather conditions in Cleveland, the Ravens may rely on the running game.

Cheap Plays

Jeff Wilson Jr., San Francisco ($4,400)

Jemar Jefferson, Detroit ($4,000)

Godwin Igwebuike, Detroit (4,000)

Wilson is still a solid play even if Deebo Samuel returns (but not likely), while one of the two Detroit RBs will be in my cash lineup to give me some salary relief.

Wide Receiver

Top Play

CeeDee Lamb, Dallas ($7,200): Lamb should have his way with Washington’s secondary which gives up the 6th most fantasy points to WRs.

Value Plays

Michael Gallup, Dallas ($5,500)

Jarvis Landry, Cleveland ($5,400)

All three of the Cowboys’ top WRs are good plays but picking the right two to stack with Dak will be the question tomorrow. I know the weather will be a factor in Cleveland but Landry’s average depth of target this season is only 5.2 yards.

Cheap Plays

Marquez Callaway, New Orleans ($4,300)

Josh Reynolds, Detroit ($4,100)

Laquon Treadwell, Jacksonville ($3,400)

Zay Jones, Las Vegas ($3,400)

Callaway is the cheaper of the two experienced WRs on DraftKings and has a 15.6 percent red zone target share. Reynolds has seen 12 targets the last two games and the Lions should be trailing most of the game. Laquon Treadwell has scored 9.3 and 10.2 DK points the last two weeks. Jones’ average depth of target this season has been 17.3 yards and has seen 12 targets the last two games.

Tight End

Top Play

Dawson Knox, Buffalo ($5,000): I believe the young TE will bounce back after his poor performance in the Bills’ loss to New England. Plus, I expect the game to go over its projected total of 53.5 points.

Value Play

Foster Moreau, Las Vegas ($4,000): I’m not afraid to go right back to Raiders’ back-up with Darren Waller missing another game.

Cheap Plays

Ricky Seals-Jones, Washington ($3,600)

Evan Engram, NY Giants ($3,500)

Austin Hooper, Cleveland ($3,400)

Nick Vannett, New Orleans ($3,100)

Seals-Jones returns from an injury and takes over for Logan Thomas who is out for the rest of the season. Engram faces the 6th worse defense giving up fantasy points to TEs, while Hooper is the only healthy TE in the Browns offense that likes throwing to the position. Vannett has scored 8.1 and 7.8 DK points the last two weeks.

DraftKings Cash Core

Tom Brady, Alvin Kamara, CeeDee Lamb, Austin Hooper

Sneaky GPP Stacks

Taysom Hill, Alvin Kamara, Nick Vannett

Jimmy Garoppolo, Brandon Aiyuk, Ja’Marr Chase, George Kittle

Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, Terry McLaurin, Dalton Schultz

Last Week’s DK by the Numbers

Cash Core: Tom Brady 32.62, Jonathan Taylor 28.3, Chris Godwin 33.2, Foster Moreau 4.4

QB: Tom Brady 32.62, Kirk Cousin 24.2, Taylor Heinicke 15.84, Tua Tagovailoa 1786

RB: Jonathan Taylor 28.3, James Conner 19.1, Antonio Gibson 22.1, Jamaal Williams 9.0, Sony Michel 24.9

WR: Chris Godwin 33.2, Hunter Renfrow 22.2, Brandon Aiyuk 8.5, DaVante Parker 11.2, Andre Carter 1.6, Josh Reynolds 10.9

TE: Rob Gronkowski 21.8, Pat Freiermuth 7.6, Logan Thomas 13.8, Jack Doyle 2.3, Foster Moreau 4.4, James O’Shaughnessy 3.3
