DFS Week 17

Updated: Jan 2, 2022

{{Updated 1-2-22, 11:47}}Let's try to finish with regular season with two winning weeks

It was another frustrating week for my cash lineup in Week 16.

I finished with only 122.48 points last week as my QB-WR stacking let me down for a second straight week. Matthew Stafford finished with 9.68 points for a snowflake, while Cooper Kupp had a nice day of 24.30 points but no TDs.

This week I’m going back to avoiding the QB-WR stack and go with a cheaper QB who runs.

I will be providing my main cash and GPP lineups (after early game inactives are announced) on my Patreon page: https://www.patreon.com/fantasyfbguru

My friends at the Warrior Bowl charity league also run a weekly DFS tournament, and there are a few spots remaining if you want battle me for the first- and second-place prizes.

Onto this week’s top players!

Quarterback

Top Play

Patrick Mahomes II, Kansas City ($7,800): You can save a couple hundred going with Mahomes than Josh Allen, even though both have solid floors.

Sneaky QBs

Tyler Huntley, Baltimore ($5,600)

Trey Lance, San Francisco ($4,800)

Huntley will get the start for the Ravens and scored 35.9 DraftKings points in his last start two weeks ago against Green Bay. Lance replaces the injured Jimmy Garoppolo and has a favorable matchup against Houston.

Running Back

Top Play

Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis ($9,000): Taylor’s price point may keep him out of a lot of cash lineups but with the return of Carson Wentz, he becomes viable in cash and GPPs.

Value Plays

Darrel Williams, Kansas City ($5,800)

Sony Michel, LA Rams ($5,800)

The last time Williams started he accounted for 32.4 DK points, riding a 9-catch, 101-yard and one-touchdown game. Michel will continue to be RB1 in the offense even with the return of Cam Akers.

Cheap Plays

Jaret Patterson, Washington ($4,800): Patterson should get the majority of the touches in the Football Team’s backfield which is missing Antonio Gibson and J.D. McKissic.

Wide Receiver

Top Play

Cooper Kupp, LA Rams ($9,500): Cooper Kupp met the Baltimore depleted defense. Enough said!

Value Plays

Christian Kirk, Arizona ($5,800)

O’Dell Beckham Jr., LA Rams ($5,700)

Kirk has seen 21 targets in the last two games without DeAndre Hopkins in of the lineup. Beckham Jr. also gets the benefit of facing the Ravens’ defense.

Cheap Plays

Zay Jones, Las Vegas ($3,900)

Braxton Berrios, NY Jets ($3,700)

Jones has seen at least 5 targets for 5 straight weeks, including 12 catches on 17 targets the last two weeks. Berrios should be the beneficiary of Elijah Moore and Jamison Crowder missing Sunday’s game.

Tight End

Top Plays

Travis Kelce, Kansas City ($7,300)

Mark Andrews, Baltimore ($7,400)

I really don’t think you can go wrong starting either one this week. The Bengals have given up 18 or more points to tight ends the last three weeks. Andrews is a target monster when Huntley is under center for the Ravens.

Value Plays

Noah Fant, Denver ($4,400)

Tyler Higbee, LA Rams ($4,000)

Foster Moreau, Las Vegas ($3,800)

Cole Kmet, Chicago ($3,400)

Fant faces a Chargers team that has given up the 2nd most fantasy points to TEs this season. The Ravens have also struggled against TEs, giving Higbee a chance to build off last week’s 5-catch game. Moreau has 11 catches on 13 targets the last two games, while Kmet has seen 5 or more targets for 5 straight weeks.

DraftKings Cash Core

{{UPDATED 1-2-22}} Trey Lance, David Montgomery, CeeDee Lamb, Travis Kelce.
