DFS Week 3

Cheat code Hurts leads this week's cash core

Dreadful is all I can say about my NFL DFS plays for Week 2.

I started the season with a great week with my cash core, but last weekend was just plain awful. On a weekend where the money line in cash games hovered in the low 120s, my line was doomed with only 85.9 points.

Saquon Barkley gave me my first snowflake emoji with only 11.8 points. Then the afternoon games made it worse.

I had three more snowflakes with no fire emojis.

Trey Lance left with a dislocated ankle late in the first quarter and scored only 2.5 points. Ja’Marr Chase only produced 10.8 point in the Bengals’ upset loss to Dallas. And Davante Adams caught a whole two passes for 12 points, salvaging his day with a short TD.

My best scorer was Diontae Johnson with a pedestrian 13.7 points.

Oh the frustration and it’s only Week 3 of the season.

I will be providing my main cash and GPP lineups (after early game inactives are announced) on my Patreon page: https://www.patreon.com/fantasyfbguru

Quarterback

Top Play

Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia ($7,600): Hurts may this year’s cheat code at QB for DFS as he is averaging 288 yards passing and 73.5 yards rushing through two games. The Commanders have giving up more than 250 passing yards a game and 5 TD passes to QBs.

Other QBs

Josh Allen, Buffalo ($8,200)

Lamar Jackson, Baltimore ($8,000)

Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City ($7,900)

This may be a week to pay up for QBs. Allen is leading the NFL’s hottest offense. Jackson is coming off a 400-plus yards of offense and four TDs, while Mahomes plays better on the road than at home for fantasy scoring.

Running back

Top Play

Leonard Fournette, Tampa Bay ($6,500): If you take his word for it, expect some TDs from Fournette. Plus, he faces a Packers defense which gave up 180 yards rushing to Chicago last week.

Value Plays

J.D. McKissic, Washington ($5,300)

Darrel Williams, Arizona ($5,100)

Dameon Pierce, Houston ($5,000)

McKissic could be busy in a game the Commanders are home underdogs. Williams should see the bulk of the carries, including the goal line touches, if James Conner misses. Pierce saw his snap count increase to 62 percent last week and he received all the RB rushing touches.

Cheap Play

Jerrick McKinnon, Kansas City ($4,500): McKinnon outsnapped Clyde Edwards-Helaire last week and this game may be more competitive than most think, providing McKinnon with optimal touches.

Wide receiver

Top Play

Cooper Kupp, LA Rams ($9,900): His consistency continues to be off the charts. Plug and play him each week!

Value Plays

Drake London, Atlanta ($5,800)

Rashod Bateman, Baltimore ($5,700)

Garrett Wilson, NY Jets ($5,400)

Greg Dortch, Arizona ($4,300)

London has seen 19 targets in two games, catching 13 of them. Bateman is doing so much with so little (only 6 catches in 12 targets for two TDS in two games). Wilson’s usage in the red zone this season gives you plenty of upside potential. Dortch continued to make plays in Week 2, just like he did in Week 1.

Cheap play

Mack Hollins, Las Vegas ($3,300): Hunter Renfrow is out for Sunday’s games and Hollins is coming off of an 8-target game.

Tight end

Top Play

Travis Kelce, Kansas City ($7,900): Kelce averages more than 20 points a game on the road vs. bad pass defenses, according to Bob Lung’s Consistency Guide. He may see double-digit targets if this game stays close.

Value play

Tyler Higbee, LA Rams ($4,500): Higbee should continue to see his high target value against the worst defense in the league vs. TEs.

Cheap plays

Tyler Conklin, NY Jets ($3,800)

Evan Engram, Jacksonville ($3,700)

Irv Smith Jr., Minnesota ($3,100)

If C.J. Uzomah misses another game, Conklin should see plenty of targets again. Jacksonville coach Doug Pederson still loves using his TEs as Engram has caught 11 of 12 targets. Smith Jr. has big play upside if he can catch the ball.
