DFS Week 5

A good pivot helps a weekly cash

Last weekend you had to stay up to date with all the moving parts of the DraftKings main slate.

Jimmy Garappolo and Deshaun Watson were late Saturday and early Sunday scratches which sent me into scramble mode.

I had planned on using Russell Wilson as my cash QB but with Las Vegas’ Aiden O’Connell at only $4,500, it allowed me to squeeze Christian McCaffrey and Puka Nacua into my lineup. They combined to score 86 of my 151.02 points which got me into the green in two of my three cash tournaments.

My GPPs fell short this week, but like last year when I hit big – it only takes one weekend.

I am providing my spreadsheet and main cash and some GPP lineups on my Patreon page: https://www.patreon.com/fantasyfbguru. CHECK IT OUT FOR FREE this week and stop missing out on a cheap monthly deal!

Onto My Top Plays for Week 5!

My Top Play

Quarterback

Anthony Richardson, Indianapolis ($7,000): I’m finally dipping my toes in the Richardson simmering pot of goodness.

However, he may have to do more with his arm this week as Tennessee is 17th vs. quarterbacks this season, and the Titans remain a run funnel defense.

Richardson upside is hard to ignore with 3 passing TDs and 4 rushing scores.

Other Cash QBs

Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City ($8,200)

Kirk Cousins, Minnesota ($6,900)

There should be plenty of offense inside the U.S Bank Stadium during this ate afternoon game on Sunday. Both teams are Top 10 passing offenses so no lead will safe with Mahomes and Cousins under center.

Sneaky GPP QB

Matthew Stafford, LA Rams ($5,600)

My Top Play

Running Back

Breece Hall, NY Jets ($5,400): The snap count restriction (there was one?) has been lifted and Breece can be unleashed now.

He has quietly taken over the larger portion of the snap shares the last 2 weeks and returns to the field where his 2022 season ended. Before tearing his ACL, Hall had 72 yards and a TD on only 4 carries last year vs. Denver.

Other Cash RBs

Bijan Robinson, Atlanta ($7,700)

David Montgomery, Detroit ($6,600)

De’Von Achane, Miami ($6,000)

Robinson has solidified himself as the No. 1 in the Falcons backfield and he continues to be involved in the passing game (he has seen at least 5 targets in every game). Plus, he has scored 20 or points DK points in 3 of 4 weeks with only 1 TD. Montgomery should be the workhorse again for the Lions vs. the Panthers (28th defense vs. RBs) after his 30-plus carry, 3-TD game last week. Achane will be on plenty of rosters on Sunday after seeing 60 percent of the snaps last week.

Sneaky GPP RB

Raheem Mostert, Miami ($6,200)

My Top Play

Wide Receiver

Wan’Dale Robinson, NY Giants ($3,000): This may not be the sexiest play but at that salary and recent production – I’m all in on Robinson this week.

His salary felt the Monday Night Game effect as the pricing for tomorrow’s main slate came out Monday afternoon before the Giants played Seattle.

Robinson, who is coming off an ACL injury, has seen his snap count increase along with his targets (11) in his two games played.

Other Cash WRs

Justin Jefferson, Minnesota ($9,400)

A.J. Brown, Philadelphia ($8,000)

Both WRs are playing in two of the highest totals of the week. Jefferson has not slowed down this season, eclipsing 85 yards receiving and 9 targets in every game. Brown has seen 10 or more targets in 3 of 4 games this season and has had 131 yards or more receiving in his last two games.

Sneaky GPP WR

Marquise Brown, Arizona ($5,000)

My Top Play

Tight End

Jonnu Smith, Atlanta ($2,900): I tend to go with a cheaper TE for my cash lineup but there are a few good spend up options this week.

But Smith fits the lower priced TE I like to play – he has seen 20 targets in his last three games while compiling 15 catches for 179 yards.

He’s the type of TE that can extend drives and help the Falcons run the clock against Houston’s explosive offense.

Other Cash TEs

Travis Kelce, Kansas City ($7,600)

T.J. Hockenson, Minnesota ($6,500)

This duo are playing in the same game and a GPP stack with both of them in your lineup gives you some sneaky upside with the double TE approach. Kelce has not had a big Kelce game yet, while Hockenson was finally slowed down last week by Carolina. Both should play big roles in their teams’ offensive output.

Sneaky GPP TE

Zach Ertz, Arizona ($3,500)

My Top Play

DST

New Orleans ($3,000): New Orleans heads to New England to face a Patriots’ offense that has fallen flat on its face

The Saints have six takeaways, including 5 interceptions, as New England QB Mac Jones had three turnovers in the Pats’ loss to Dallas

Other Cash DST

Tennessee ($2,400) at Indianapolis

Houston ($3,500) at Atlanta

Sneaky GPP DST

Pittsburgh ($2,700) home against Baltimore
