Final pre-draft notes

It's all about the upside and use your resources

(Corey Davis is the WR1 in the NY Jets' offense.)

The upside

Most experienced and successful fantasy managers know exactly what I’m talking about when it comes to upside. Most know who is going to be drafted in the top portion of your draft, but the order is different in every format.

However, the team managers who do their homework can find that one deep sleeper who proves to be the difference in a playoff team and a league championship.

After your first six rounds, you should have a solid core to build around late in your draft.

If your first two picks of your receiving corps consists of DeAndre Hopkins and Tyler Lockett, you may want to target a Corey Davis or Brandin Cooks who may be target hogs in their teams' offenses.

Houston and NY Jets may be in the bottom third of the league at the end of the season, but Davis and Cooks are both great options as your No. 3 WR who provide high WR2 upside with a little luck.

Then it’s all about your deep sleepers. (Check out my Deep, Deep Sleepers story, https://thefantasyfbguru.wixsite.com/fantasyfootballguru/post/deep-deep-sleepers)

(Can Gabriel Davis build off his rookie season for the Bills?)

More deep sleepers

Here are a couple other deep sleepers I have been snagging in my various leagues.

Gabriel Davis, Buffalo (FantasyPros ERC ranking 176)

The second-year player played a key role down the stretch in the passing game for the Bills last season.

He averaged 5.2 targets and 12.1 points per game in PPR in Buffalo’s final six games. He was also a touchdown machine, scoring 7 TDs on just 35 receptions.

There are 52 targets available this season with the departure of John Brown, and it appears the Bills are still going to be a passing team after the preseason.

Byron Pringle, Kansas City (ECR 331)

Most of the offseason talk has been about Mecole Hardman stepping in for the departed Sammy Watkins.

However, Pringle has been the one who has shined during OTAs and the preseason. He was the most targeted WR during minicamp in June, according to reports.

His average draft position also skyrocketed during the preseason in the FantasyPros rankings.

Stay on top of your game

After this weekend’s big surge of drafts, you must continue to do research during the season to keep an advantage over your league mates.

During the season, I will have my weekly waiver wire story, weekly rankings, sprinkle in a few DFS plays along with weekly predictions to help with your Survivor picks and best bets to help you.

But you should use all the resources available to you. I personally listen to three podcasts during the week that I highly recommend – FantasyPros’ Fantasy Football Podcast (#TagsStrong), The Fantasy Footballers and CBS’ Fantasy Football Today.

All three podcasts add insight to the decisions you’ll have to make during the season, and they all have fun doing it.
