Old age, writing stories and game prognosticating
This old age thing is getting the best of me.
As I passed the half-century mark this year for times around the sun, I’ve found staying up past 10 p.m. is a chore.
I had planned on writing this story when my wife took her shower last night, but the comfy of my recliner and sleepy time won until about 12:30 a.m. I dragged my butt off the recliner, fed my cats and headed to bed not writing this story until this morning.
I can’t complain too much – life has been good, just like my picks.
Last week I finished with an 11-2-1 record for my picks and another 3-0 week for my Survivor picks. My Best Bets fell short of another winning week, falling at 2-3.
Well, onto the games!

Minnesota at Detroit (Lions -2, 51.5 over/under): A lot of DFS players will be flocking to this game with its high over/under. Lions, 33-27
Cleveland at Cincinnati (Bengals -5.5, 46.5): I think Joe Cool finally records a win vs. the Browns. Bengals, 27-20
NY Jets at Buffalo (Bills -10, 43): Weather? Check. Big AFC East matchup? Check. Another Bills win? Check. Bills, 27-14
Philadelphia at NY Giants (Eagles -7, 45): This seems like an easy pick but big road favorites have struggled this year. Eagles, 24-20
Jacksonville at Tennessee (Titans -3.5, 41): I believe this game sees more offense than the odds makers expect. Titans, 28-23
Houston at Dallas (Cowboys -17, 44): Poor Houston! Cowboys, 37-17
Baltimore at Pittsburgh (Steelers -2, 36.5): The Steelers can play spoilers twice to the Ravens this season. Steelers, 20-14
Kansas City at Denver (Chiefs -9, 44): I have a side bet with one of my co-workers for a box of Little Debbie’s chocolate Christmas tree cakes that this game goes over. Chiefs, 27-20 Tampa Bay at San Francisco (49ers -3.5, 37.5): A short week and a cross-country game doesn’t bode well for the Bucs. 49ers, 24-17
Carolina at Seattle (Seahawks -4, 44.5): The Seahawks made the right decision, going with Geno Smith at QB this year. Seahawks, 30-21
Miami at LA Chargers (Dolphins -3.5, 53.5): I expect plenty of offense in this game. Dolphins, 37-34
New England at Arizona (Patriots -2, 43.5): I’m not quite sure why the Patriots are favored. Cardinals, 23-20
