Washington's Thomas tops list of must haves
Week 2 of the NFL season has provided the Waiver Wire Frenzy more valuable assets.
Injuries and opportunities not seen the preseason gives this week’s list a strong group.
The percentage numbers will only include Yahoo! Sports and ESPN this week as it appears team managers are little more savvy on Sleeper. Sleeper also plays host to a lot of superflex leagues/dynasty leagues, allowing managers to gobble up a number of players.
This week I’m introducing a new item on the Frenzy – the Stash Can. If you have room on your rosters, these players need to be picked up now before they become the hot items on the waiver wire.
Onto this week’s pickups!
Quarterback
Jared Goff, Detroit (23 percent Yahoo! & 7 percent ESPN)
Goff is leading an offense averaging 35.5 points during the first two games.
Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco (5 percent Yahoo! & 1 percent ESPN)
Trey Lance’s season-ending ankle injury pushes Garoppolo back into the spotlight.
Marcus Mariota, Atlanta (11 percent Yahoo! & 9 percent ESPN)
He’s the perfect guy as your QB2 in superflex leagues with his rushing upside.
Matt Ryan, Indianapolis (43 percent Yahoo! & 26 percent ESPN)
His ownership may take a hit after last week’s 3-interception game, but he was without Michael Pittman Jr.
STASH CAN: Kenny Pickett, Pittsburgh
Running back
J.D. McKissic, Washington (24 percent Yahoo! & 42 percent ESPN)
He caught all 10 of his targets this season, including last week’s 7 targets.
Darrel Williams, Arizona (4 percent Yahoo! & 4 percent ESPN)
He handled the bulk of the running work when James Conner left with an injured ankle.
Jerrick McKinnon, Kansas City (6 percent Yahoo! & 14 percent ESPN)
McKinnon outsnapped starter Clyde Edwards-Helaire last week. Something to keep an eye on!
STASH CAN: Brian Robinson, Washington
Wide receiver
Sterling Shepard, NY Giants (11 percent Yahoo! & 10 percent ESPN)
The key number to know is 14 – Shepard saw 10 of his 14 targets last week.
Rondale Moore, Arizona (20 percent Yahoo! & 29 percent ESPN)
Greg Dortch, Arizona (7 percent Yahoo! & 3 percent ESPN)
The Cardinals have made it apparent that the slot role will be the key receiver in the offense through two games.
STASH CAN: Cole Beasley, Tampa Bay
Tight end
Logan Thomas, Washington (14 percent Yahoo! & 20 percent ESPN)
Thomas’ snap count improved from Week 1.
Tyler Conklin, NY Jets (3 percent Yahoo! & 2 percent ESPN)
I don’t think most remember he had 61 receptions last year with the Vikings.
Irv Smith Jr., Minnesota (41 percent Yahoo! & 33 percent ESPN)
If Smith Jr. can stop dropping TD passes, his stock will soar.
Robert Tonyan, Green Bay (38 percent Yahoo! & 22 percent ESPN)
Tonyan saw his snap count reach 40 percent last week.
