Hubbard heads the list after a week filled with injuries
The NFL’s Week 3 proved to be full of injuries as Christian McCaffrey led the way with a strain hamstring in Carolina’s easy win against Houston.
The obvious choice this week for the No. 1 pick-up is Carolina rookie running back Chuba Hubbard (26 percent Yahoo! Sports & 11 percent ESPN). He played well after CMC left the game and finished with 52 yards rushing (4.7 yards a carry) and 3 catches on 5 targets for 27 yards.
There are some familiar faces again on the Waiver Wire Frenzy as team managers continue to overlook players who can contribute to your lineup now and in the future.
Quarterbacks
Taylor Heinicke, Washington (6 percent Yahoo! Sports & 4 percent ESPN)
He should be the starter until the Week 9 bye.
Sam Darnold, Carolina (22 percent Yahoo! Sports & 9 percent ESPN)
Teddy Bridgewater, Denver (28 percent Yahoo! Sports & 28 percent ESPN)
Both QBs are grossly under-rostered and make great No. 2s in two-QB leagues.
Running Backs
Peyton Barber, Las Vegas (8 percent Yahoo! Sports & 11 percent ESPN)
Barber returns to the list after a big game vs. the Dolphins and has a nice matchup vs. the Chargers.
Royce Freeman, Carolina (1 percent Yahoo! Sports & 0 percent ESPN)
He’s the next man up if Hubbard falters.
Giovani Bernard, Tampa Bay (16 percent Yahoo! Sports & 12 percent ESPN)
Sprained MCL may limit his chances again.
Wide Receivers
Tim Patrick, Denver (23 percent Yahoo! Sports & 14 percent ESPN)
Keeps producing in Broncos’ injured WR corps.
Emmanuel Sanders, Buffalo (26 percent Yahoo! Sports & 23 percent ESPN)
Developing a nice connection with Josh Allen.
Hunter Renfrow, Las Vegas (12 percent Yahoo! Sports & 11 percent ESPN)
No. 2 option in Raiders’ passing game.
A.J. Green, Arizona (15 percent Yahoo! Sports & 25 percent ESPN)
Getting targets in the red zone in Cardinals’ potent offense.
Tight Ends
Tyler Conklin, Minnesota (4 percent Yahoo! Sports & 3 percent ESPN)
Targets continue to increase in the Vikings’ top 10 passing offense.
Dawson Knox, Buffalo (10 percent Yahoo! Sports & 4 percent ESPN).
Has scored a TD the last two weeks.
Dalton Schultz, Dallas (3 percent Yahoo! Sports & 3 percent ESPN)
Has seen 6 or more targets in two games.
Tommy Tremble, Carolina (0 percent Yahoo! Sports & 0 percent ESPN)
With Dan Arnold trade, Tremble could see bulk of TE work.
