Slim pickings on the wire as byes, injuries wreak havoc
In the recent weeks, it seems to be feast or famine on the Waiver Wire Frenzy.
Thanks to this week’s six-team bye week and several key injuries, team managers are scrambling to find enough players to fill their starting lineups.
The Frenzy has quality fill-ins this week but the rest of season upside for most of these players are questionable, but with byes and injuries hitting at the same time, you need to find a replacement from somewhere.
Onto to the list!
Quarterback
Tua Tagovailoa, Miami (18 percent Yahoo! Sports & 25 percent ESPN)
Had a strong start returning from his rib injury.
Jameis Winston, New Orleans (38 percent Yahoo! Sports & 23 percent ESPN)
It’s either you are getting the new improved Jameis or the old turnover monster Jameis.
Running Back
D’Ernest Johnson, Cleveland (4 percent Yahoo! Sports & 1 percent ESPN)
He’s in line to be the Browns’ top ball carrier on Thursday vs. Denver.
Rhamondre Stevenson, New England (11 percent Yahoo! Sports & 12 percent ESPN)
Surprisedly had three targets in an expanded role.
Rashaad Penny, Seattle (8 percent Yahoo! Sports & 3 percent ESPN)
Penny comes off the IR at the right time for the Seahawks.
Devonta Freeman, Baltimore (2 percent Yahoo! Sports & 3 percent ESPN)
A more explosive Freeman could see more touches this week.
Demetric Felton, Cleveland (9 percent Yahoo! Sports & 3 percent ESPN)
Will be the second part of the Browns’ backfield
Wide Receiver
Rashod Bateman, Baltimore (27 percent Yahoo! Sports & 15 percent ESPN)
Rookie had 6 targets in his season debut.
A.J. Green, Arizona (44 percent Yahoo! Sports & 33 percent ESPN)
Just need to play him on one of his up weeks.
Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit (23 percent Yahoo! Sports & 12 percent ESPN)
Continues to receive targets despite a low fantasy number last week.
Donovan Peoples-Jones, Cleveland (2 percent Yahoo! Sports & 1 percent ESPN)
May be one of the few healthy WRs for the Browns.
Van Jefferson, LA Rams (10 percent Yahoo! Sports & 9 percent ESPN)
Another piece in the Rams’ potent offense.
Tight End
Ricky Seals-Jones, Washington (30 percent Yahoo! Sports & 20 percent ESPN)
Has filled in well for the injured Logan Thomas.
Dan Arnold, Jacksonville (9 percent Yahoo! Sports & 7 percent ESPN)
Continues to see targets since trade from Carolina.
Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh (6 percent Yahoo! Sports & 3 percent ESPN)
Saw his role expanded with Juju out for the rest of the season.
