Covid concerns hit waiver wire choices
It was a crazy start of the new week for the NFL.
First, Green Bay standout WR Davante Adams was played on the reserve/covid-19 list on Monday. That moved made Allen Lazard (5 percent Yahoo! Sports & 5 percent ESPN) a must grab pick up. But, Lazard was placed the reserve/covid-19 list, as well, on Tuesday for being a close contact to Adams.
Now the Packers will have to face undefeated Arizona without their top two WRs. Oh the joys of fantasy football during a pandemic.
Let’s get into this week’s Waiver Wire Frenzy!
Quarterback
Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville (40 percent Yahoo! Sports & 35 percent ESPN)
He has some tough games coming up, but has a nice run of games heading into the playoffs.
Daniel Jones, NY Giants (28 percent Yahoo! Sports & 28 percent ESPN)
Hard to get a gauge on him recently, but his arrow is pointing back up.
Deshaun Watson, Houston (13 percent Yahoo! Sports & 16 percent ESPN)
Still a lot of uncertainty, but it sounds like he may have an opportunity to play if traded.
Running Back
Kenneth Gainwell, Philadelphia (22 percent Yahoo! Sports & 26 percent ESPN)
Boston Scott, Philadelphia (2 percent Yahoo! Sports & 1 percent ESPN)
Gainwell probably has upside on the splits between the two.
Rashaad Penny, Seattle (33 percent Yahoo! Sports & 10 percent ESPN)
Played sparingly during his first game back from IR.
Marlon Mack, Indianapolis (12 percent Yahoo! Sports & 6 percent ESPN)
I expect Mack will be traded by next Tuesday’s deadline (Nov. 2).
Wide Receiver
Rashod Bateman, Baltimore (32 percent Yahoo! Sports & 19 percent ESPN)
He is a big part of the Ravens’ offense going forward.
Russell Gage, Atlanta (10 percent Yahoo! Sports & 10 percent ESPN)
Provided a deep spark in his return to the lineup.
Van Jefferson, LA Rams (9 percent Yahoo! Sports & 7 percent ESPN)
Role seems to be expanding in explosive offense.
Equanimeous St. Brown, Green Bay (0 percent Yahoo! Sports & 0 percent ESPN)
Amari Rodgers, Green Bay (1 percent Yahoo! Sports & 1 percent ESPN)
One should emerge if Adams and Lazard are both out for Thursday.
Kalif Raymond, Detroit (3 percent Yahoo! Sports & 6 percent ESPN)
He has 12 catches on 15 targets the last two weeks.
K.J. Osborn, Minnesota (7 percent Yahoo! Sports & 8 percent ESPN)
Could help form a three-headed monster for the Vikings’ WR corps.
Tight End
C.J. Uzomah, Cincinnati (19 percent Yahoo! Sports & 10 percent ESPN)
He’s been coming up with some long TDs.
Dan Arnold, Jacksonville (4 percent Yahoo! Sports & 3 percent ESPN)
He has a target share more than 10 percent (13.2) for the season.
Tyler Conklin, Minnesota (9 percent Yahoo! Sports & 11 percent ESPN)
Has become a serviceable spot-start TE.
