Waiver Wire Frenzy Week 9

Henry's injury opens door in Tennessee backfield

Down goes Derrick Henry!

Henry has been a model of consistency for his career and had avoided the big injury despite his bruising running style.

The injury bug finally caught him with a broken bone in his foot and he is expected to miss up to 10 weeks.

But with the injury comes great opportunity for Tennessee’s Jeremy McNichols (9 percent Yahoo! Sports & 2 percent ESPN). McNichols’ larger role survived as the trade deadline passed on Tuesday, and the Titans just signed 36-year-old Adrian Peterson (6 percent Yahoo! Sports & 0 ESPN) to the practice squad.

Onto the rest of the Waiver Wire Frenzy!

Quarterback

Justin Fields, Chicago (22 percent Yahoo! Sports & 18 percent ESPN)

Starting to show flashes with his running game.

Taysom Hill, New Orleans (3 percent Yahoo! Sports & 1 percent ESPN)

When healthy, he should be in line for the starting QB job for the Saints.

Mike White, NY Jets (2 percent Yahoo! Sports & 1 percent ESPN)

He’s a nice filler in 2-QB leagues.

Running Back

Boston Scott, Philadelphia (20 percent Yahoo! Sports & 5 percent ESPN)

Jordan Howard, Philadelphia (3 percent Yahoo! Sports & 1 percent ESPN)

Appears to be the 1A and 1B in the Eagles rushing pecking order.

Mark Ingram II, New Orleans (37 percent Yahoo! Sports & 25 percent ESPN)

Should continue to see touches to spell Alvin Kamara.

Carlos Hyde, Jacksonville (7 percent Yahoo! Sports & 7 percent ESPN)

If James Robinson is out, Hyde becomes workhorse in Jags’ running game.

Derrick Gore, Kansas City (2 percent Yahoo! Sports & 0 percent ESPN)

Flashed for one drive in the Chiefs’ Monday win.

Wide Receiver

Rashod Bateman, Baltimore (31 percent Yahoo! Sports & 20 percent ESPN)

Bye week should helped Bateman to get fully healthy for the stretch run.

Bryan Edwards, Las Vegas (10 percent Yahoo! Sports & 7 percent ESPN)

Role may expand as Raiders deal with off-field issues to their WR crops.

Van Jefferson, LA Rams (13 percent Yahoo! Sports & 9 percent ESPN)

No. 3 WR in the Rams’ potent offense.

Jamal Agnew, Jacksonville (2 percent Yahoo! Sports & 2 percent ESPN)

Getting more targets than the Jags’ more well-known WRs.

Big Ben has found his new Heath Miller.
