Can the Cowboys pull the upset vs. Chargers?
I’ll take a 10-6 record for the first week of the NFL season, but it was my Best Bets that left me on the short end for the weekend.
In a span of 10 minutes in real time, Detroit converted a 2-point conversion to help end the game as a push after San Francisco had jumped to a comfortable, points-covering lead. In that same time frame, the NY Jets failed to convert a 2-point conversion late, giving Carolina a 19-14 win and covering the 4 points.
Then Arizona-Tennessee game let me down after scoring 51 points with more than 3 minutes left in the third quarter. The middle was 54, and the Cardinals won, 38-13.
Sigh!
On to this week’s games!
New Orleans at Carolina (Saints -3, 44.5 over/under): The Saints have currently won 8 of the last 9 matchups in this series, including 3-0-1 vs. the spread in games in Charlotte. Saints, 27-21
Cincinnati at Chicago (Bears -2.5, 44): The Bengals have been sneaky good vs. the Bears in Chicago. Bears, 20-17
Las Vegas at Pittsburgh (Steelers -6.5, 47): It is tough to come off a short week and make a cross-country road trip. Steelers, 34-23
Buffalo at Miami (Bills -3, 47.5): I really do think the Bills start the season 0-2. Dolphins, 31-28
LA Rams at Indianapolis (Rams -3.5, 48): The Colts will be another good team starting the season 0-2. Rams, 27-21
San Francisco at Philadelphia (49ers -3, 49.5): I think Jalen Hurts proves he can be beat quality opponents as well. Eagles, 38-33
Denver at Jacksonville (Broncos -6, 45): I think Urban Meyer was a poor choice as an NFL coach. Broncos, 34-17
New England at NY Jets (Patriots -6, 43): A battle of two rookie QBs. Patriots, 21-20
Minnesota at Arizona (Cardinals -3.5, 51): One of the four afternoon games with totals above 50. Cardinals, 37-30
Atlanta at Tampa Bay (Buccaneers -12.5, 51.5): Tom Brady may only need one half to throw 4 TDs against the Falcons. Buccaneers, 31-13
Tennessee at Seattle (Seahawks -6.5, 54): Are the Titans really as bad as they played in Week 1? Seahawks, 30-27
Dallas at LA Chargers (Chargers -3.5, 54): Even with a decimated defense, I think the Cowboys pull the upset. Cowboys, 40-37
Kansas City at Baltimore (Chiefs -3.5, 54.5): The Ravens could be staring at a two-game hole in the AFC North after Week 2. Chiefs, 30-25
Detroit at Green Bay (Packers -11.5, 48): Aaron Rodgers is notorious for having big games after a stinker. Packers, 34-13
