Week 7 GPP Review

Hey all and welcome to my week 7 GPP review. Yesterday was a bit of a tough one. Many of my players in both DFS and seasonal caught the injury bug. Let's get into it.

Week 7 GPP Ownership Review

Below on the left are my ownership projections. On the right are what they actually were

  1. Josh Jacobs - 29.5 - 45%

  2. Cedee Lamb - 23.2 - 25.57%

  3. Austin Ekeler - 19.6 - 21.54%

  4. Kenneth Walker - 18.8 - 30%

  5. Saquon Barkley - 18.5 - 11.66%

  6. Joe Mixon - 17.8 - 10%

  7. Justin Herbert - 14.7 - 10%

  8. Tyler Lockett - 14.5 - 8.62%

  9. Derrick Henry - 13 - 10.5%

  10. Mike Evans - 12.6 - 8.75%

  11. Zeke Elliott - 12.5 - 11%

  12. Greg Dulcich - 12 - 8.5%

Things I didn't see coming:

  • New York Jets - 40%

  • Joe Burrow - 20%

  • Alec Pierce - 20%

  • Michael Gallup - 14%

  • Gerald Everett - 13%

Takeaways

Overall, I feel ownership projections performed admirably and did their job of giving me a sense of what the field was going to do. Had I known Jacobs would've been THAT high, I probably would have faded. I decided to go over the field and had him in about 60% of my lineups.

I figured the Jets would carry ownership but 40% is rather ridiculous. I mostly pivoted off them to the Falcons (fail!) and Seahawks (success!).

Week 7 GPP Best Lineup Review

My highest scoring lineup scored 198.92 DK points.

Patrick Mahomes

Josh Jacobs

Zeke Elliott

JuJu Smith-Schuster

KJ Hamler

Paris Campbell

Kittle

Kelce

Titans

The strategy of the Mahomes double stack with a run back on the other side worked. My RBs and defense performed quite admirably, but I ended up having to double punt with Campbell and Hamler. Not the best of strategies but the price of Mahomes and Kelce forced me to do so. Campbell came through, but Hamler sunk the lineup.

Also, you may notice that I didn't write up Joe Burrow and the Bengals on Saturday. This was intentional. I did make a couple Burrow lineups with Chase or Boyd, but sadly didn't have one with BOTH Chase and Boyd. I wasn't quite sure what to make of the Bengals this weekend. For one, I knew Burrow would have a spike in ownership after his week 6 performance at 3% ownership. I also actually had respect for the Falcons defense. For the most part I went away from them because of it. Just know that it's not because I don't think Burrow is bad or something. My love affair with this man has been well documented.

My lineups that did have Burrow in them were mostly sunk anyway because I had a Falcon pass catcher as a run back and apparently the Falcons refuse to throw the ball. Only throwing the ball 13 times in a game like that is an embarrassment.

Week 7 GPP Winning Lineup

Joe Burrow

Josh Jacobs

Austin Ekeler

Deandre Carter

Ja'Marr Chase

Tyler Boyd

Cade Otton

Kenneth Walker

Jets

Week 7 GPP Good Calls

  • I mostly faded the Cowboys v Lions and boy am I glad I did. I played some Zeke and Pollard, but that was basically it. Fading the chalk helped in this scenario.

  • I played a good amount of Walker and Ekeler and even had them in a few lineups with Jacobs. The three of them didn't fit well in my Mahomes/Kelce stacks though, so considering price tag is something I need to improve on next week. I didn't play the QBs or stack this game though and that was the correct move.

  • Terry McLaurin showed up with Heinicke back in at QB.

  • Aaron Jones was under 2% ownership. I used a good amount of him and that paid off.

  • The Browns did indeed re-commit to their running game with both Chubb and Hunt finding the end zone.

Week 7 GPP Bad Calls

  • Yikes....what in the world is going on with the Bucs? I ended up having about 10 lineups with Bucs stacks. I might as well have lit money on fire. This is one of those situations where I have to go with my gut and not listen to the noise. The Bucs offensive line is broken, which should be good enough for me to avoid them, but it also appears that this team has no interest in playing for one another. At 3 - 4, however, they are somehow still in first place.

  • I don't know how it's possible to trust the Colts right now.

  • I mostly avoided the Ravens backfield this week. Throwing Gus Edwards right into the primary role was something I did not see coming, especially considering the Ravens play on Thursday.

  • I won't give up on Kyle Pitts yet, but I'm at the point where I'm convinced a QB change needs to happen in Atlanta. Also...THROW THE BALL ATLANTA!!!!!

Thanks for checking out my Week 7 GPP Review! I'll catch you all later in the week!
